Question: How do I/O systems communicate?
Answer: I/O expansion systems communicate via different fieldbuses depending on the version. This can be the robust RS485 bus (Modbus RTU), a CAN bus interface, CANOpen or EtherCAT. 

Question: Can I measure frequency with I/O modules?
Answer:  Yes, digital inputs with counting function are available on the modules.

Question: Can I control motors with I/O modules?
Answer: Yes, there are special digital outputs on the modules that can be used to control motors via PWM outputs.
